@StephenOgilvieLtd an award winning Garden Design, Build and Horticulture company, is seeking a creative and proactive Head Gardener to join their dynamic gardening team.

Managing a portfolio of stunning private gardens and estates across Edinburgh, #Perthshire and the #ScottishBorders, the successful will need:
🍃At least 5 years experience working in high-end gardens and/or estates
🌳Extensive plant identification skills & pruning experience
🌿Herbaceous border care & development
🦺Knowledge of good Health & Safety practices; and experience using a range of horticultural tools & machinery
🌱Relevant horticultural qualifications (Degree, HND or RHS Level 3)
🥬Pesticide certificates (PA1 & 6 as a minimum); Chainsaw licence preferable
🫛Experience of managing clients and small teams; Excellent communication skills
🚗 Full, clean driving licence

The garden flows naturally down to a beautiful river setting, with artificial ponds and waterways accompanying the main river. The river area is kept predominantly wild.🐝🌺

The gardener will be hands on and responsible for the day to day maintenance and care of all garden areas, which includes some herbaceous planting, maintaining lawns, hedges and wild flower areas. 🪴🌱

🍃You will work closely with the owners, who are enthusiastic gardeners, and appreciate their beautiful surroundings. You will help them to achieve their vision with continuous development of new planting plans and other ideas to enhance the whole setting. The ability to work independently, take ownership of the role and a desire to maintain high standards is essential.

The grounds encompass formal gardens, herbaceous borders, meadows, ponds, a small kitchen garden and a cutting garden. The role also involves the care of minor livestock such as alpacas, pig, swan, ducks and geese.🌺🦢🥬

🍃🌿This is a hands-on, pivotal role for a practical and knowledgeable gardener. You will be responsible for the holistic maintenance and presentation of the gardens and grounds, ensuring they are maintained to the highest standard year-round.

Key Responsibilities:
🪴All aspects of horticultural care: planting, pruning, weeding, propagation, and soil management.
🌳Management of lawns, hedges, and woody areas using appropriate machinery (mowers, strimmers, etc.).
🐌Pest, disease, and weed control.
