- David Hedges-Gower – Lawn Consultancy
David Hedges-Gower has over 35 year’s experience of working with grass and lawns. From his early days in the world of professional golf to the present day as media expert, author and advisor to prestigious organisations around the UK, David has dedicated his career to lawns and to sharing his passion with everyone from managers of large estates to people with a small front lawn.
Hole in One David Hedges-Gower has the kind of professional credentials which only come from total dedication. For David this began in his teens when he took up golf, rocketing to professional level within only two years. Then, when injury prevented a long playing career, he simply refocused his dedication and became, at only 19, the UK’s youngest professional Head GreenKeeper. Thus began David’s lifelong passion for lawns. With his player’s insight, David knew exactly what the world’s leading golfers demand from a course and soon he was appointed Golf Course Superintendent at the prestigious Oxfordshire Gold Club. Here David oversaw the courses for many Benson & Hedges Internationals, World Championships of Golf and the Ladies’ English Opens. Lawn Solutions In 2004 David established his own successful specialist lawn care company, Lawn Solutions, to complement the services provided by the lawn franchises. The company continues to take forward David’s original vision to provide services to prestigious clients up and down the country. Lawn Consultant Today David has become established as the UK’s leading lawn consultant. He advises bodies like the National Trust on modern, environmental lawn management, is a regular contributor to World Radio Gardening and BBC Radio Oxford, and was the 2014 Lawn Expert for Gardener’s World Live event. He has been delivering a ground-breaking series of themed talks – Modern Day Lawn Care – at Waterperry Gardens and many gardening clubs and societies. The RHS approached David last year and he is now delivering that same talk on ‘modern lawncare’ for them. In 2015 David was appointed as ambassador for Greensleeves, the second largest lawn care franchise in the UK, and has also become lawn care advisor for Homebase. Author – Modern Lawn Care Published in 2014, Modern Lawn Care is the first UK book ever to be written by a true lawn expert, and the only one available with comprehensive, easy-to-use and contemporary information. The book is already a great success, endorsing the author’s ability to explain lawn care in great detail while still empowering the reader to choose their own level of intervention to suit their needs. A copy was even requested by the Queen for use at Buckingham Palace. The book will shortly begin distribution to UK garden centres.
