🏡This role is offered as LIVE IN or LIVE OUT with accommodation provided, close to the estate.

The owners would consider a couple, ideally with the Head Gardener’s partner offering full time assistance in the house and/or garden🍂

🌿The Estate is sympathetic to its heritage and reflects the artistic interests of the owners. The gardens feature a number of sculptural, architectural, and natural viewpoints.

The Head Gardener is required to take the lead and develop a skilled team to revitalise the impressive series of garden features, including:
🌿Formal parterres, hedges, topiary centrepieces & close-cut formal lawns
🌹Rose beds, borders, and rose arch walkway
⛲Walled ‘Show Garden’ surrounding the orangery with a contemporary water feature
🥬Kitchen garden; and enclosed courtyard garden
🏠Impressive Alitex designed glasshouse with central tropical display area, propagation wing and potting shed
🪴Large planters for seasonal and mature plantings
🌳Parkland and lake complemented by mature trees; as well as an orchard with heritage fruit trees surrounded by bulb-rich meadow

📢 An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head Gardener on a 600 acre privately-owned estate near Downham Market, Norfolk 🌳

The gardens comprise approximately 2 acres of formal gardens; lawns surrounding the main house; and a further 3 acres of wooded parkland. Within the garden area is a grade II listed sunken formal garden, a walled kitchen garden growing primarily flowers but with a variety of fresh produce, a rose garden and a pool garden🌿🐝🌱

The gardens are set within a wider estate of arable fields, woodland, fishing lakes and grass paddocks used for horse livery🍃

The Head Gardener will be hands on and responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of all aspects of the garden. Key responsibilities will include planting, lawn maintenance, pruning, hedge-trimming, weeding, watering, upkeep of driveways and maintenance of garden machinery. In addition the role will require liaising with tenants, contractors and horse liveries from time to time.🪴

🏡The position includes a two-bedroom cottage with its own small garden, adjacent to the main house. The accommodation will be provided rent and council tax free.

@StephenOgilvieLtd an award winning Garden Design, Build and Horticulture company, is seeking a creative and proactive Head Gardener to join their dynamic gardening team.

Managing a portfolio of stunning private gardens and estates across Edinburgh, #Perthshire and the #ScottishBorders, the successful will need:
🍃At least 5 years experience working in high-end gardens and/or estates
🌳Extensive plant identification skills & pruning experience
🌿Herbaceous border care & development
🦺Knowledge of good Health & Safety practices; and experience using a range of horticultural tools & machinery
🌱Relevant horticultural qualifications (Degree, HND or RHS Level 3)
🥬Pesticide certificates (PA1 & 6 as a minimum); Chainsaw licence preferable
🫛Experience of managing clients and small teams; Excellent communication skills
🚗 Full, clean driving licence
