An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and skilled Gardener on a beautiful private estate in Essex; on a full-time permanent basis.
The successful candidate will be required to join a small team on a beautiful 5-acre private estate in Essex. The 2-acre formal gardens have been designed to a high standard, with mature trees and expansive lawns surrounding the main property. The gardens consist of a mixture of areas housing ornamental shrubs, potted plants/trees, herbaceous borders and sculptures, ponds and woodland/ meadow grass areas.
The ideal candidate will be required to maintain the herbaceous beds and implement their maintenance plan, maintain hedging within the formal areas, topiaries and ponds. Developing the cut flower garden and producing seasonal flowers for the property, maintain and alternate seasonal bedding displays including a tropical summer theme to be grown on the estate, general maintenance duties of the estate such as tidying and pressure washing. The ideal candidate would have the capabilities to implement scheduled projects such as developing the woodland meadow and pest / weed control using cultural methods foremost only using chemical methods when necessary
In addition to previous experience of working on private estate gardens, the ideal candidate will have an excellent eye for detail and a comprehensive plant knowledge. You should have a positive approach to your work, be attentive, self-motivated and be able to work cohesively in a small team. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to complete all tasks to a high standard and time efficiently.
The skilled gardener position would suit an individual looking to grow as a professional and within the role, ideally possessing a horticultural qualification to a level 2 standard or above with a minimum of 2 years’ prior experience working in similar environments. You should have a broad plant knowledge inclusive of herbaceous borders, pruning and best pruning methods, the care and maintenance of roses, fruit and cut flower production. Ideally the candidate should hold (PA1/PA6) spray certificates, but not essential as training can be provided.
SALARY: £28,000
