Part-Time Gardener Vacancy

An experienced Gardener is sought for 24 hours per week to maintain a large private garden near Sutton Bingham Reservoir on the Somerset/Dorset border.

The position is permanent.

The 5-acre garden surrounds a lovely Grade 2 listed family home. It consists of 2 ponds, a semi-tropical garden surrounding a swimming pool, a loggia, a multitude of climbing plants surrounding the house, extensive hedging, specimen trees, herbaceous borders and large areas of lawn.

The successful candidate will be required to manage most aspects of the garden and will need a good level of gardening knowledge and competency.

The role involves the general maintenance of the garden, which includes sowing seeds, planting flowers, shrubs, and trees, along with essential tasks such as fertilising and pruning as needed. You will also need to attend to lawn care, covering all aspects of lawn maintenance like regular mowing, edging, and general upkeep. The role also requires weeding, removing weeds, fallen leaves, and other debris through regular cycles of composting and burning. You must identify and effectively address pest infestations that affect the garden plants. Additionally, you will be responsible for keeping all gardening tools and equipment in excellent working condition. Working hours are flexible. Due to the rural location, own transport is essential.

The role would suit an experienced self-employed gardener.

Salary: £20 per hour
