Part Time Gardener – Private Garden – Kensington & Chelsea, London
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Part Time Gardener to join a beautiful private garden in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, London. Working 2 or 3 days per week on a self-employed basis, this role would suit a skilled gardener who enjoys working hands-on within a mature and established garden and takes genuine pride in maintaining a high standard of horticulture and presentation.
The garden extends to just under an acre and is an attractive, well-established private garden arranged over different levels with seating areas. It features a variety of mature trees, established shrubs, ornamental planting, mixed borders, lawns and an extensive collection of potted plants, creating a garden full of character and year-round interest. The successful gardener will take responsibility for the ongoing care and maintenance of the garden, ensuring that the planting remains healthy, well-presented and carefully managed throughout the year, while maintaining the high standards expected of a private garden.
The role will involve all aspects of general garden maintenance, including weeding, planting, pruning, lawn care and seasonal maintenance. The gardener will need to have a good understanding of horticultural practices and be confident working with established ornamental planting, recognising where attention is required. An eye for detail will be important, as the successful candidate will be expected to maintain the garden in a neat, tidy and beautifully presented condition.
This is a hands-on gardening position and would suit someone who enjoys working independently and takes responsibility for the appearance and upkeep of the garden. The successful candidate will be proactive in their approach, able to organise their own workload and have the experience and knowledge to identify and prioritise the tasks required throughout the changing seasons.
The position is offered on a part-time basis for 2 or 3 days per week, with potential working hours of approximately 8.00am to 2.00pm. Further flexibility regarding working days can be discussed with the successful candidate. The role offers an excellent opportunity for a self-employed gardener to become involved in the ongoing care of a beautiful private garden within one of London’s most prestigious areas.
The ideal candidate will have previous professional gardening experience and good plant knowledge, together with general garden maintenance skills. The successful candidate should be reliable, conscientious and proactive, with a genuine passion for gardening and a keen eye for detail.
