An exciting opportunity has become available for a Gardener to join a beautiful private estate near Bordon, Hampshire, working alongside a knowledgeable and experienced Head Gardener. This part-time, self-employed position is for two days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday) and is ideally suited to someone who enjoys practical, hands-on garden maintenance and takes pride in maintaining gardens to a high standard.

The successful candidate will play an important role in the upkeep of the estate’s recently redeveloped 10-acre gardens. While the role will primarily focus on general garden maintenance, there will also be opportunities to assist the Head Gardener with a variety of horticultural tasks.

The stunning gardens provide a diverse and rewarding working environment, featuring a large walled garden surrounding the main property, a productive orchard, extensive lawns, a wide collection of roses, beautifully planted herbaceous borders, and a tranquil pond. Designed to provide year-round interest, the gardens are maintained to a high standard and offer an enjoyable and varied place to work.

The day-to-day responsibilities will focus on the general maintenance and presentation of the gardens and grounds. Duties will include mowing, strimming, hedge cutting, leaf clearance, weeding, watering, seasonal tidying, and ensuring all areas are kept neat, healthy, and well presented. The successful candidate will also assist the Head Gardener with more skilled horticultural tasks such as planting, pruning, propagation, training plants, and general plant care.

The ideal candidate will have practical gardening or grounds maintenance experience, be physically fit, reliable, and enjoy working outdoors in all seasons. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential. Previous experience working on a private estate or within a similar environment would be advantageous but is not essential. PA1 and PA6 certificates would be beneficial, although training can be provided if required.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys the practical side of gardening and would like to work within a beautiful private estate
