A stunning and unique beachfront estate in Croatia is seeking an experienced and dedicated Gardener Couple to play a key role in the ongoing development and care of its beautifully diverse coastal gardens. Applicants must hold EU passports or have the right to work within Europe and be willing to relocate to Croatia to fully immerse themselves in the role.

This position will suit a passionate and hands-on couple where they can take ownership, work closely together, and make a lasting impact on a truly special estate. This role offers the chance to work collaboratively on a beautifully diverse coastal property, set within a stunning beachfront location. The successful couple will play a key role in the ongoing maintenance, enhancement, and long-term development of the gardens.

The property sits within approximately 100 acres of diverse landscape, with key features including coastal pathways, hillside walking routes, a grass tennis court, developing orchard areas, productive polytunnels, and wider planting schemes. The orchard includes a wide variety of established fruit trees, alongside ongoing expansion and structured planting plans. A small but productive vegetable garden is in place within polytunnels, supporting year-round cultivation. In addition, there is a developing avenue of trees leading into the estate, with ongoing planting projects sourcing mature and specialist specimens from Italy.

The gardens are not traditional formal ornamental spaces, but rather a naturalistic, coastal and rocky Mediterranean landscape with structured design elements being introduced over time. The owner is also developing an Italian-inspired garden feature, which will become a key focal point within the estate. A further responsibility includes the oversight of approximately 5,000 olive trees across the wider property.

The estate currently has a small on-site team, primarily focused on building and general maintenance. One member of the team will be there to assist with day-to-day support. However, this role requires a self-sufficient and highly capable couple who can operate independently, take full ownership of the gardens, and ensure the estate is maintained to a consistently high standard.

The owner travels frequently and is seeking a trusted and reliable couple who can take full responsibility for the day-to-day running, presentation, and security of the estate during their absence. A high level of trust, discretion, and long-term commitment is therefore essential. The successful couple will also be required to assist with the care and welfare of the owner’s dogs when they are away from the property.

The role includes a purpose-built round house, which is provided as part of the package and is fully covered by the employer. The accommodation is suitable for a couple only, as it is a one-bedroom property.

Applicants must hold a valid EU passport or have the legal right to work within Europe and will be covered by all standard statutory employment insurances in Croatia. In addition, the employer is open to providing enhanced private health insurance cover to ensure appropriate medical support and peace of mind for the successful applicants.

The role is very hands-on and will include all core horticultural duties such as planting, pruning, irrigation management, lawn care, pest and disease control, orchard maintenance, vegetable production, and general estate upkeep. A strong emphasis is placed on practical ability, adaptability, and the ability to work across both cultivated and naturalistic environments.

A proactive attitude, good communication skills, and enthusiasm for being involved in a garden that is actively developing and evolving are key.

The client is open to considering both an experienced Gardening Couple OR a Sole Gardener for this role.
