Head Gardener – Live In
Head Gardener – Live In – Vacancy
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a skilled and experienced Head Gardener in a lovely private garden near Stow on the Wold in Gloucestershire.
The garden, which is beautifully located, and set within an estate, includes a formal garden, lawns, herbaceous borders, cutting borders, a large kitchen garden including fruit, spring and summer meadows, and a large greenhouse, both for propagation and providing flowers and pot work for the house.
The position, which is very much hands on, will appeal to someone with either proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a private estate setting, or someone in a senior role looking to step up into more responsibility. The applicant will be responsible for leading a small, friendly team working closely together to manage and maintain the gardens to the highest standards.
Applicants would ideally hold recognised horticultural qualifications although excellent skills, relevant experience and an extensive plant knowledge are essential. Previous experience of different garden machinery would also be advantageous. PA1 and PA6 would also be beneficial.
Weekend watering duty would be required on a rota and due to the village location a driving licence is essential.
After over 20 years, the current Gardener in charge is moving away and the owners, who are passionate about their garden, are now looking for someone creative who will be a long term replacement.
The successful applicant must be enthusiastic and organised, with a strong work ethic and excellent attention to detail, be conscientious, reliable, trustworthy and honest.
The job comes with some excellent accommodation and a generous pension scheme.
Salary: £50,000
