About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Gardener to lead the care, development, and presentation of our gardens and landscaped grounds designed by Tom Stuart-Smith in a historic 8.4-acre setting. The Estate is comprised of formal lawns and extensive ornamental planting, woodland, wildflower meadow, walled garden, pond, and a small green house. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone with strong horticultural knowledge and a keen eye for detail.
This is truly an exciting project which continues to grow and develop and could be an excellent next step for a committed horticulturalist wishing to make their mark on a thriving garden.



Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the maintenance and development of all gardens, lawns, and planted areas.
- Plan and implement seasonal planting schemes and garden improvements.
- Lead and work closely with the Assistant Gardener.
- Manage tools, and equipment efficiently.
- Ensure high standards of presentation throughout the year.
- Identify and manage plant health issues, pests, and diseases.
- Liaise with external contractors and suppliers when required.
About You
- Proven experience in a senior gardening or horticultural role.
- Strong plant knowledge, including trees, shrubs, perennials, and seasonal plants.
- Experience managing or supervising a team.
- Relevant horticultural qualification (e.g., RHS Level 2/3 or equivalent) desirable.
- Practical skills in pruning, planting, lawn care, and garden design.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence (preferred)

Salary: £33-£36K DOE
Working Hours: Full-time / Permanent – 37.5hrs 8.00am-4.00pm
