Mayan Estate

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a practical Groundsperson to join a beautiful family-run estate in Banffshire, Scotland, on a full-time and permanent basis.

Set within the picturesque Deveron Valley, this impressive 700-acre private estate comprises extensive gardens and grounds, manicured lawns, wildflower meadows, established woodland, a private residence and holiday cottages. The estate also benefits from fishing on the River Deveron and game shooting, providing a varied and attractive rural environment. The grounds are maintained to a high standard for the enjoyment of the family and holiday guests staying on the estate.

Working as part of a small, dedicated and enthusiastic team, the successful candidate will take a hands-on role in the day-to-day maintenance and presentation of the wider estate grounds. Duties will include grass cutting and lawn maintenance, strimming, hedge cutting, clearing paths and drives, general grounds upkeep, and maintaining areas of woodland, meadows and naturalistic areas.

The Groundsperson will also assist with the upkeep of the gardens and surrounding estate areas, including the historic rock gardens, ponds, lawns and holiday cottage grounds. There will be a varied range of seasonal outdoor tasks throughout the year, with the role suited to someone who enjoys practical work and being outdoors in all weathers.

Experience operating and maintaining grounds machinery and equipment would be advantageous, as would knowledge of general estate maintenance, horticulture or countryside management. The successful candidate should be practical, reliable and proactive, with a strong work ethic and good attention to detail. The ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a small team is essential.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Groundsperson looking for a long-term position within a beautiful private estate, offering varied work across formal and informal grounds, woodland and wider estate landscapes.
