Groundsperson – Residential Park – Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic Groundsperson to join a well-established residential park near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes genuine pride in maintaining attractive landscapes, and is looking for a varied role where no two days are the same. Working in a sole capacity, you will play an important role in ensuring the park’s gardens, communal areas, and grounds are maintained to an exceptionally high standard throughout the year, creating a welcoming and attractive environment for residents and visitors alike.
Set within peaceful and beautifully landscaped surroundings, the residential park features extensive communal gardens, mature trees, ornamental shrubs, established hedging, well-maintained lawns, seasonal flower displays, attractive entrance features, pathways, and communal green spaces. The grounds have been thoughtfully designed to provide an attractive and relaxing setting for residents, while the immaculately presented show homes showcase the quality of the development to prospective buyers.
As the Groundsperson, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day care, maintenance, and presentation of the gardens and grounds, ensuring every area remains clean, tidy, safe, and visually appealing throughout every season. This is a practical, hands-on role requiring someone who is confident working independently, able to use their own initiative, and equally comfortable working alongside colleagues, contractors, and the wider team when required. You will enjoy taking ownership of your work and gain satisfaction from maintaining a beautiful outdoor environment to the highest possible standard.
Your duties will cover a wide range of grounds maintenance and garden maintenance tasks, including grass mowing, strimming, hedge cutting using both hand-held and mechanical equipment, pruning shrubs, weeding, watering, mulching, edging lawns, leaf clearance, digging and preparing beds and borders, planting trees, shrubs, and seasonal bedding displays, and applying fertilisers where appropriate. You will also be responsible for maintaining fences and other external features, carrying out pressure washing to pathways and communal areas, and ensuring every aspect of the park consistently reflects the high standards expected by residents and visitors.
Alongside maintaining the gardens and grounds, you will also be responsible for cleaning and presenting both the interior and exterior of the park’s show homes. These properties play an important role in welcoming prospective residents, so excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining immaculate presentation standards are essential. From time to time, you may also liaise with external contractors and oversee work being carried out on site, helping to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Applicants with previous experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, horticulture, landscaping, estate maintenance, or a similar outdoor environment are encouraged to apply. Experience operating grounds maintenance machinery, a practical approach to outdoor work, and a good level of plant knowledge will be highly beneficial. The successful candidate must hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel to other company sites when required.
Excellent communication and customer service skills are equally important, as you will regularly interact with residents, visitors, contractors, and colleagues. You should be organised, dependable, physically fit, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of health and safety, cleanliness, and presentation across the park. Above all, you will have a positive, can-do attitude, enjoy working outdoors in all seasons, and take pride in delivering work of an exceptional standard.
Working hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, with flexibility required during busy seasonal periods and park open days when additional support may occasionally be needed. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Groundsperson, Grounds Maintenance Operative, Estate Maintenance Operative, or Gardener looking to join a professional and supportive organisation where your contribution will have a visible impact every day and where you can enjoy a rewarding long-term career in grounds maintenance.
