Sole Gardener
An experienced Sole Gardener is required for a 6 acre country garden in the North Downs near the Kent, Sussex, and Surrey borders with fabulous views set in 20 acres including woodland, paddocks and ponds.
The existing garden comprises of lawns, hedges, mature trees, shrubs, herbaceous and grassy boarders, walled kitchen garden and orchard. There is an Alitex greenhouse where annuals and fruits are grown, lots of climbing roses and wisteria which have been trained around the house and oak pergolas around the garden.
We are looking for an energetic candidate who has a flair for successional planting, design and new projects. The garden whilst mature has plenty of opportunity for the appointed person to be creative and assist developing the garden for the future.
Applicants will need not only to have recognise horticultural qualifications but also excellent gardening skills combined with good plant knowledge and a willingness to be flexible in their duties in order to carry out other general work from time to time. He/she must also be experienced in greenhouse work and able to maintain the garden to a high standard. Candidates should hold PA1/PA6 certificates, have appropriate certificates and be competent in operating a large range of garden machinery including tractors and chain saws.
The candidate should be comfortable with dogs as in addition, the role will include caring for the dogs and animals when the owners are away together with security of the property. A lovely refurbished two bed (2 baths) detached cottage on the edge of the property is available.
Due to this vacancy being in a rural location a full driving licences and own transport is essential. A DBS/CRB check will be required.
