Skilled Gardener
A self-motivated and driven skilled gardener is sought after on a full time and permanent basis for a stunning 6-acre private garden in Sevenoaks, Kent. The mature garden consists of extensive lawns, herbaceous borders, shrubs, roses, fruit cage, a variety of mature and young trees and a greenhouse.
The successful applicant will be a plantsman with a passionate for gardening, a keen eye for detail and enjoys working to a high standard. He / She will have the ability to work on their own initiative as well as have experience working with others. There are two Estate employees who tend to the broader Estate of 500 acres. The skilled gardener will be responsible for the maintenance of the garden to a high horticultural standard and enhance the garden as and when required.
Applicants should ideally hold a horticultural qualification at level 2 or above and a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a large garden. He / She will have comprehensive plant knowledge in particular shrubs and herbaceous as well as experience with herbaceous borders. Propagation knowledge would be an advantage. The ability to operate and maintain a range of garden machinery including strimmers and mowers is necessary for the role and full knowledge and keen awareness of all Health and Safety issues. A full UK driving licence is essential.
