Described as ‘one of the most beautiful gardens in England’, this internationally acclaimed garden near Burford, Oxfordshire seeks a full time Skilled Gardener to work directly under a knowledgeable and experienced Head Gardener.
Appearing in country life and American magazines, this wonderful 7-acre garden surrounding the main property is ever evolving and consists of herbaceous beds, shrub borders with roses, kitchen garden, glasshouse, potager, lawns, mature and young trees, yew hedges, orchard, topiary, water features, and various themed garden rooms. The garden is kept to a high horticultural standard and opens to the public occasionally.
Working alongside the Head Gardener, the skilled gardener will be able to thrive in a small team of two, working under instruction as well as independently.
Applicants will ideally have broad horticultural knowledge and experience working in an estate garden environment. Knowledge and use of all hand tools, hedge cutters, trimmers, push mowers and ride on machinery is important as well as the ability to care for herbaceous and shrub borders, seasonal bedding schemes, containers, grass care, greenhouse work and maintenance of kitchen gardens and other general gardening experience. Spray certificates PA1/PA6 and chainsaw certificates would be beneficial but not essential. A good level of fitness is required.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an impressive garden, and to work for an employer who has a have a strong connection and interest in the garden. The role is available to either be live in or live out. A one-bedroom bungalow rent free with Council Tax paid is available on site if required. Due to location of the property, a driving licence would be beneficial.
SALARY: £28,000 plus accommodation
