Skilled Gardener
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Skilled Gardener to work alongside a Head Gardener on a stunning private property near Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire.
The property encompasses a walled garden, formal lily pond garden, kitchen garden, herbaceous garden, an orchard, year-round poly tunnel vegetable production, swimming pool garden, seating areas and surrounding paddocks with specimen trees. The formal garden has recently been overhauled and replanted. Candidates must be enthusiastic gardeners, honest, reliable and capable of delivering an extremely high standard of work.
The new gardener will work under the direction of the Head Gardener but must be able to work alone when required. Duties will include a wide range of other horticultural duties including weeding, digging, mowing, growing, planting, pruning etc. This is an exciting opportunity for skilled gardener looking to continue to develop their existing skills and knowledge whilst working on an impressive private estate in a much sought-after location in the country.
Applicants should have good plant knowledge and be able to demonstrate an efficient and practical approach to their work. Good physical fitness is required as the position will be physically demanding at times. Spray certificates (PA1/PA6) would be an advantage, as would experience and competence with mowers, hedge cutters, strimmers and blowers. The employers are happy to invest in training programmes where appropriate.
Applicants should primarily be passionate gardeners with a genuine interest in horticulture and ideally have experience of working on private estate gardens. Energy, and a sense of humour are important.
SALARY: £24,000 – 30,000 DOE
