  • Full Time
  • This position has been filled
  • Oxfordshire
  • Salary: circa £35,000 DOE

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Senior Skilled Gardener to join a small and friendly team based on a small but picturesque private estate in West Oxfordshire. The successful candidate will assist in the ongoing maintenance of the already established gardens and greenhouse.

The rustic gardens are styled on a typical, traditional English Country Garden and cover approximately 3-acres. The grounds feature a small formal parterre, a walled garden, herbaceous borders, hedging and variety of both mature and fruit trees. In addition, there is a wide variety of climbers throughout the property, therefore confidence when working at height would be beneficial. The owners show a keen interest in the gardens, and additional skills such as flower arranging and cut flower production are again desirable but not essential.

The gardens are maintained to a very high standard and applicants must be confident in their ability to prune fruit trees, shrubs, and roses, while also having good knowledge of lawn care and the ability to maintain hedging. The successful candidate will have a well-rounded skillset, and demonstrable experience working in a similar setting. A relevant horticultural qualification and additional tickets such as PA1/PA6 and chainsaw certificates are advantageous. Knowledge of garden machinery is essential, with the ability to maintain this equipment being valuable.

The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude and good time keeping, while being a team player and working harmoniously within the small team. Having a positive attitude is extremely important to the owners, as well as being reliable and committed to the position, showcasing a passion for all things horticulture.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Skilled Gardener, who is looking for a long-term position, to implement their skills and flourish within a positive working environment. This is a full-time position, with working hours of 08:00 to 16:30 Monday to Friday, however there is a degree of flexibility where required. Please note that the successful candidate will be subject to a full DBS check.
