An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Senior Gardener on a full time and permanent basis for a beautiful private garden located near Thame, Oxfordshire. The position is also open to a gardening couple.

The stunning 3-acre private garden includes a kitchen garden, glasshouse, an Avery, pond with fish, extensive lawn areas, mixed and herbaceous borders and a variety of trees.  The local church grounds and a portfolio of barns /associated small gardens are owned by the client and the successful candidate will occasionally be required to assist with the general garden maintenance of those sites.

The client is looking for a long-term Senior Gardener or a Gardening Couple (Senior and an Undergardener) to manage and maintain the gardens to a high horticultural standard. In the case of a Senior Gardener appointed, they would be given the opportunity to recruit an Undergardener at a later date.

The Senior Gardener will ideally hold a horticultural qualification and have experience working on private estates. There is an extensive range of tools, equipment and garden machinery available including a small tractor. He / She will have experience of using and basic maintenance of the machinery as well as good technical skills. PA1/PA6 spray certificates and chainsaw certificates would be an advantage. The successful candidate will be organised, self-motivated and have experience working autonomously as well as managing others. He / She will be responsible for managing other contractors on site. A full UK driving licence is essential.

A two-bedroom converted barn is provided for the successful applicant(s). Council tax and utilities are paid by the tenant. Partners, children and pets are welcome. A vehicle will be provided.
