Website ecgrecruitment English Country Gardeners

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a part-time Skilled Gardener to re-establish a sophisticated courtyard garden designed by a well-known gardener to a high horticultural level in South Kensington, London.  This position is offered to self-employed skilled and qualified gardeners in the locality, on the basis of 3 hours per week, with the potential for more flexibility in the future.

The garden encompasses just 20m2 and is compact and well executed with beds and borders, one specimen tree, a fountain, paving (no lawn), lighting, with perimeter trellising and climbers forming the primary garden theme.

Applicants should be established self-employed gardeners in London with demonstrable experience in managing and maintaining the grounds of similar London properties to the highest level of detail.  RHS level 3 or equivalent and excellent plant knowledge required of applicants as well as excellent knowledge of species-specific pruning and plant training.  An ability to identify and manage plant pests and diseases is required, as well as associated spray certificates (PA1/PA6).  General garden DIY skills are necessary in order to ensure upkeep of the structural aspects of the garden features, i.e. trellises and frames.

As access to the garden is via the house, candidates will need to be clean, tidy and considerate of the property and its owners at all times.  Additional staff may be brought in to assist with larger development/improvement jobs if necessary and planned for the future, however the garden is of a size and style that should easily be manageable by a sole gardener.  Some tools are available such as long armed pruners and secateurs however, applicants are welcome to bring their own tools and equipment should they require.
