Part-time Skilled Gardener
A new opportunity has arisen for a part-time Skilled Gardener to undertake general maintenance and continued improvement of a beautiful garden in a village near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. This position is offered to self-employed skilled / qualified gardeners in the locality, on an initial basis of 2-days per week; these two days are flexible. The owner is extremely fond of their garden and is now looking for a reliable and knowledgeable Skilled Gardener to help maintain and improve the garden.
The cottage style garden encompasses roughly 1-acre and comprises of several different elements. In the garden is large natural pond which the owner is keen to develop, rockeries, topiary hedges, specimen trees, herbaceous borders, and fine lawns. Also on site is a greenhouse which is open to a wealth of opportunities for the successful gardener to grow and develop a wide variety of plants.
Applicants for this position will ideally hold academic horticultural qualifications and must be self-employed gardeners with demonstrable experience in managing and maintaining the grounds of similar domestic properties to a high level of detail. Good plant knowledge is desired of applicants as well as excellent knowledge of species-specific pruning and plant training as well as an ability to identify and manage plant pests and diseases is required.
Candidates will need to be clean, tidy, and considerate of the property and its owner at all times. Additional staff may be brought in to assist with larger development/improvement jobs if necessary and planned for the future. Applicants should be established self-employed gardeners in Cambridgeshire.
SALARY: £175 per day
