An opportunity has arisen in a private garden located near Amersham for a full time permanent gardener.
The 4-acre formal gardens slope down towards a pond and consist of lawns, mixed borders and beds, wisteria and rose pergola, veg plot, hedges and mature trees. The garden is part of a wider grounds including 6 acres of paddock.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the general maintenance of the garden i.e. mowing, strimming, leaf blowing, hedge cutting, pest control, weeding as well as horticultural practices such as planting and some garden developments. He / She will work to a high standard and should be self-motivated, and able to organise and carry out work unsupervised as this is a sole position.
Applicants should have a demonstrable background in horticulture. He/ She will possess excellent practical skills and a good level of competency in the operation and basic maintenance of garden machinery. Academic horticultural qualifications would be an advantage.
This position would suit a self-motivated, committed and creative gardener looking for a long-term project to develop and maintain the garden to a high standard. Prepared to work outside in all weathers and a clean driving licence is essential.
