An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced and energetic Growing Propagation Manager to join the team on a 20-acre nursery in Lincolnshire. The successful candidate will specialise in glass and tunnel growing for their range of annual, perennial and hardy nursery stock.

As the Growing Propagation Manager, you’ll drive innovation, sustainability, and excellence every step of the way. From the early stages of product life to the release of crop production, you’ll be ensuring maximum efficiency while maintaining high standards of quality.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum of five years live plant growing experience
  • A recognised qualification in horticulture and agronomy.
  • Experience in space/capacity planning for optimum and efficient crop production.
  • To have a clear understanding of DEFRA and IPPFFS rules and regulations
  • Be a dynamic ‘hands-on’ grower.
  • Be computer literate with knowledge of glasshouse computer control systems.
  • Ability to inspire, enthuse and motivate a team.
  • Diligent initiative-taker with the ability to develop better processes.
  • Lead the high standards of growing and product care across all product categories from start to finish. Ensure adequate training is given to all staff.
  • Spraying, fertilizers, applications, and plant health compliance
  • Determine plant growing conditions in greenhouses, including temperature control, irrigation, planting, and care schedules.
  • Care for all needs of cuttings, including sticking, watering, misting, spraying, and feeding.
  • Position and regulate plant irrigation systems and program environmental and irrigation control.
  • Responsibility not just for the day-to-day growing of plants but also the implementation and introduction of smarter and reliable growing processes, lighting, temperature, growing media, nutrition, and monitoring the overall health of plants.
  • Flexibility within the role with a strong understanding of seasonality and forecasting to meet demand.
  • In line with the companies’ mission to initiate sustainability, environmental and greener polices.
  • A commercial understanding and realistic mindset to growing, market innovation and propagation.
  • Can do attitude and true passion for all elements horticulture with a love of growing.

LOCATION: Lincolnshire

SALARY: Circa £50,000
