Experienced Gardener required
A self-motivated and skilled gardener is sought after for a private house near Woking, Surrey. The position is open to either a full-time sole gardener or on a part time basis (3 – 4 days / week) with additional help.
The property is surrounded by seven acres of garden in total, of which three acres are laid to lawns, beds, borders, yew hedging and a pond. There is also a tennis court, swimming pool, a variety of mature trees and the remaining land is grazing fields. They are in the process of building a greenhouse in the Spring.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced gardener and would suit a self-starter with detailed plant knowledge, able to maintain the current structure to a high horticultural standard and to design and execute a series of additional projects to enhance the garden over the years. Additional duties may include swimming pool maintenance and assisting with managing contractors onsite.
The gardener will be organised, plan and prioritise workload and work autonomously. If a part-timer is appointed, he or she will also manage the additional help. Applicants will ideally hold a horticultural qualification, excellent plant knowledge and previous relevant experience. Chainsaw certificates and PA1/PA6 spray certificates would be an advantage. Ability to operate a range of garden machinery and good craft skills are desirable and a full UK driving licence is essential.
SALARY: £35,000 DOE
