R L Clifton-Brown & Son

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a experienced Gardener with the enthusiasm for creating a beautiful garden on the Suffolk/Cambridgeshire border. The position is full time, permanent and would suit a friendly and knowledgeable all-round gardener with plenty of vision and creative talent.

Our garden is a typical country garden set over approximately 8 acres on the Suffolk /Cambridgeshire border. The job will be full of variety and although there will be a lot of the usual general garden maintenance of weeding, pruning, mowing, strimming and hedge cutting, there will also be a creative and innovative side. You will be encouraged to plan and maintain good compost heaps and work to improve our soil structure. You will be allowed to plan new areas of planting and to trial your own ideas. We run a small wedding venue in our grounds so it will also be important that the successful applicant has a good eye for detail and a pleasant manner around people. Also on the estate are a couple of holiday Lets that would be gardened alongside the main garden.

The ideal candidate will be energetic, ambitious, flexible, and willing to extend their duties where needed. This is a physically demanding position which requires a fit and strong individual who is comfortable working in all weathers. Experience in the use and maintenance of a wide range of gardening machinery is essential. PA1/PA6 spray certificates and chainsaw certificates would be an advantage although training can be given. A driving licence is required for the role due to the rural locality of the estate and the need to travel between the different areas on the estate. You will need to be organised, able to plan and prioritise your workload, have good communications skills and the ability to work alongside others. The working hours are 8 am to 5pm with an hour for lunch. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate who would like to work on a country estate and wants to really make a difference to a garden.

Start date and salary to be discussed.

In summary duties include:
