Estate Worker
An opportunity has arisen for an Estate Worker to work on a large privately-owned Estate close to Woking and Guildford on a full time and permanent basis. This stunning estate has extensive lawns, woodland areas, water features, mixed shrub and herbaceous borders and walled formal gardens containing a productive kitchen garden and large rose garden with extensive arbours.
The role is to assist the General Estate Foreman to ensure the estate grounds are maintained to the highest standards. Working as part of a small skilled team, the right person will work well with other people but also be able to work alone and on own initiative.
Duties include but are not limited to lawn maintenance with exacting precision, supervision of contractors where necessary and maintain garden buildings, paths, driveway and hedging. The successful applicant will be confident and willing to use of heavy and light machinery (following appropriate training & competency test) and will uphold all health & safety regulations, ensuring that you are appropriately qualified or experienced to carry out the duties you undertake.
Additional duties will include assisting with R&M of estate plant equipment (eg pumps, mowers, irrigation, septic tanks), assist the house team with requests for help with heavy lifting, outdoor events, and pool maintenance and assist at the Principal’s other properties if requested.
The successful applicant will ideally have a wide-ranging understanding of hard landscaping, machinery operation with previous experience, The ability to work outdoors in all weathers and engage in physically demanding work is a requirement. You will have effective verbal communication skills and have a team-playing mentality with ability to work efficiently on an independent basis. It is important that the Estate worker has good prioritisation skills and be flexible enough to adapt plans and is Health and Safety compliant. A driving licence is essential for the role, and you will ideally have own transport due to semi-rural location. Relevant qualifications in tree surgery and chainsaw certificates would be an advantage but not essential.

A competitive salary of £27,000 is offered with the position. Working hours are Monday- Friday, 8.00am- 17.00pm (occasional work outside these hours, including at weekends, will be required). Full uniform and PPE will be provided.
