As the team continues to grow, an excellent opportunity has arisen for a Greenkeeper to join the gardens and Parkland team on a prestigious private estate near Andover, Hampshire. This full-time position offers the chance to contribute to the ongoing maintenance and development of a high-quality estate, working under the direction of a Senior Gardener. The role is ideal for candidates with experience in amenity horticulture, estate gardening, or greenkeeping.

The area maintained by the Garden and Parkland Team is the Front Park with a ha-ha and lake with cascading water, Arboretum, Lady’s Walk, Upper Park South and North, and Paddocks.

The Greenkeeper will support the maintenance of a diverse and well-established gardens and parkland. Responsibilities include general garden maintenance, assisting with planned horticultural works. Duties involve mowing with pedestrian, ride-on, and tractor-mounted equipment, as well as watering, weeding, pruning, planting, and fertilising across a wide range of planting schemes.

The role includes lawn care and turf management, including monitoring and treating pests and diseases, as well as maintaining wildflower meadows, shrubs, and trees. A high level of attention to detail is essential, with regular inspections required to ensure all areas—particularly high-traffic and visible spaces—are maintained to the highest standards, while always respecting the privacy of residents and guests.

This position requires a candidate with proven experience in garden maintenance, lawn care, or all rounded gardening, along with practical knowledge of turf care techniques. Experience working with wildflower meadows is advantageous. Candidates should be confident operating a wide range of machinery, including ride-on mowers, tractors, and turf care equipment. It is desirable to hold an RHS level 2 horticultural qualification (or equivalent) and the relevant certifications such as PA1 and PA6a, chainsaw use, and tractor operation.

Applicants must be able to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrate flexibility, and be willing to assist across different areas of the estate when required. A full UK driving licence is essential. This is a physically demanding role, and candidates must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. Flexibility is required, with occasional weekend working as needed (time off in lieu provided).
