Gardener
A vacancy for an experienced gardener has become available to take on the running of the formal gardens (approx. 9 acres) on a 28 acre estate in an attractive village in West Sussex.
The successful candidate will work in conjunction with the estate manager as head gardener and will be jointly responsible for pruning, mowing, planting, weeding, spraying, hedge cutting and general upkeep of the grounds, with the help of a small team of part time staff.
Applicants must have an open and positive attitude, other duties will include, basic swimming pool maintenance, general security of the estate and alternate weekend work to include monitoring greenhouses, watering, security and being on call.
Applicants need to demonstrate the ability to supervise a small team and maintain the gardens in an efficient manner.
A horticultural qualification would be an advantage. Spraying and chainsaw certificates are desirable, but not essential as training could be given to the right candidate.
The position may suit a couple, with the partner helping out in the garden at peak times.
The position is offered with a modern semi detached three bedroom, two bathroom cottage on site with its own garden.
