Part time Gardener
An exciting part time vacancy has arisen for a driven and hands-on gardener, 3 days a week for a beautifully kept private garden situated in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire. This opportunity would suit a plantsperson with a passion for ornamental and kitchen gardening.
The property is based within 56 acres with farmland. The beautifully kept gardens surrounding the main house consist of a small rose garden, 2 large beds either side of the front of the house and borders around the perimeters of the house with lots of Japanese anemones, hydrangeas, buxus balls, a courtyard with potted plants and flower beds, a kitchen garden growing a range of fruit and vegetable for the house, cut flower garden, green house for propagation, expansive lawns and a variety of mature and young trees.
There are three other part time gardeners working onsite who maintain the lawns, hedge cutting, fruit tree pruning etc. This role will be working alongside the team with a focus on maintaining the formal garden which includes the kitchen garden, cut flower garden, beds and borders and greenhouse. The successful applicant will focus on the specialist pruning, weeding, planting schemes and maintaining the flowers beds and the garden to a high horticultural standard. He / She will be self-motivated, enjoy working to a high standard and have a keen eye for detail.
The ideal candidate will have excellent horticultural knowledge and ideally hold a recognised horticulture qualification. Excellent plant identification skills, experience with specialist pruning are essential. A spraying certificate (PA1/PA6) would be an advantage, but not essential as organic practices are encouraged. References and a current DBS will be required.
