Estate Worker
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a multi-talented Estate Worker to join an established team on a private estate, located near Aberdeen. The position would suit a competent, adaptable and driven professional.
The stunning 40-acre garden is part of a wider estate with over 100 highland cows on site. The gardens were first laid out formally in the 1990s and have gradually been developed to a high horticultural standard and continue to evolve to date. Divided into different themes, the garden consists of extensive lawns, a tropical house, formal gardens, polytunnels for seasonal plants and growing from cuttings, 4-acre walled garden, Japanese garden, fountain garden and to the front of the house herbaceous beds. The gardens are well established with some potential planting projects in mind and have recently opened up through Scotland’s Garden Scheme. Throughout the years, the team have planted half a million trees on site.
Ten employees work on the estate, of whom four work in the gardens. The successful applicant will be part of the estate team though will be expected to manage their own time and work autonomously. The estate worker will be mainly assisting in the gardens (mowing, watering, harrowing and fertilising, spraying and associated treatments), watering of the wider estate grounds, management of hedges and trees, tractor driving, machinery maintenance and general labouring and estate maintenance when necessary.
Applicants must have excellent attention to detail and time management skills, good communication skills and experience in each of the above areas. Candidates should be physically fit, active and able to work efficiently in all weathers, whether manually or with the assistance of heavy machinery.
This is a full-time permanent position; 5-days per week with 28-days holiday (including Bank Holidays).
SALARY: up to £25,000 DOE (Live out)
