Gardener
Experienced, full-time (40-hour week) Gardener required to join existing team primarily for 3-acre garden area of 20-acre estate outside Bishops Waltham.
Live-in position with accommodation provided in converted barn (large ground floor space with mezzanine bedroom, small kitchen and bathroom but not appropriate for children). Job includes limited week-end responsibilities for 5 small dogs.
Specific responsibilities to include :
- improving and tending range of flower beds (new planting; soil improvement, weeding)
- tending rockery
- pruning (shrubs, box hedge (including topiary) , roses)
- pruning (orchard (c. 40 trees apples / pears / plums)
- upkeep of hedges (mainly beech and yew)
- lawncare
- vegetable garden (raised beds)
- ensuring that garden and area around house is taken to a new level and then kept in a first class condition.
- Flexibility to assist with broader estate management duties required. Ability to use / maintain garden equipment required.
Salary/conditions : £ 26,000 – 30,000 p.a. with accommodation provided and utilities (electricity, gas and water) paid; 20-days paid holiday plus bank holidays; workplace pension offered
