Experienced Gardener required

The gardens at Godinton House comprise 12 acres of spectacular formal gardens, open to the public from Spring to Autumn. The garden team is responsible for its very high presentation standards, which include maintaining an extensive iconic ornamental yew hedge, managing herbaceous borders, rose gardens and a walled kitchen garden.

As a trained, professional horticulturalist, you will possess great plant knowledge and demonstrable experience. Duties will include plant care, pruning and propagation, watering and weeding in all areas of the garden, together with grounds maintenance, including mowing and hedge cutting. The varied and interesting role offers an enthusiastic and motivated individual the opportunity to work in beautiful surroundings in a small, supportive team.

The successful applicant will:

  • Hold a horticultural qualification (minimum RHS level 2 or equivalent) and have proven horticultural experience.
  • Be able to manage your time effectively and efficiently, be able to prioritise your workload and be happy working within a team and independently.
  • PA1 and PA6 would be an advantage.
  • Be able to safely and effectively operate a range of routine garden machinery.
  • Be flexible and adaptable to the range of duties required and be able to work independently and with initiative.
  • Be able to integrate into an existing busy team, reporting to the Head Gardener.
  • Have a full clean driving licence and own transport.

Package

  • A salary of circa. £28,000 per annum DOE plus a pension.
  • Starting as soon as possible.
  • Daily working hours 8.00am to 5.00pm.
  • Holiday entitlement is 25 days annually plus bank holidays.
