As the company expands, they are now seeking a passionate and enthusiastic gardener to join their professional and skilled horticulturalist team.

Job Brief

Covering clients in Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey; large historic and newly established English gardens are their passion. As a member of the horticultural team, candidates will visit one client a day and be expected to be practical, adaptable, and skilled in the application of maintenance requirements and of planting and horticulture; as the gardens within the client’s portfolio do require expert care. Duties will include all roles associated with garden creations and maintenance:

  • Planting
  • Pruning
  • Weeding
  • Ongoing plant care
  • Topiary
  • Irrigation

Key Responsibilities

Our client is looking for a friendly, motivated, and reliable candidate who can contribute to the quality of the service they provide and professionally represent the company. Applicants should ideally have comprehensive hands-on experience in garden care and maintenance and an ability to carry out the finer aspects of horticulture, such as species-specific pruning, as well as the more physically demanding tasks. However, the client is happy to also consider more junior candidates who are looking to kickstart their horticultural career.

  • Deliver first quality services on sites to their specification in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work well in a team and be able to follow instructions.
  • Show a good understanding of all health and safety regulations, and always adhering to them.
  • Being able to confidently deal with horticultural matters on site.
  • Excellent communication skills to successfully engage with customers, clients, and team members.

Candidate Skills

The successful candidate will be a people person, well-mannered and presentable, a full and clean UK driving licence with good horticultural knowledge and plant base. Must have the ability to work on their own initiative both in a team and alone with good time management skills. This is also a route for someone who is ambitious to join a progressive company and develop into a role with the possibility for promotion with long term progress in the company.

The ideal candidate will hold:

  • A full UK manual driving licence (required).
  • RHS Level 2 or NVQ equivalent in Horticulture
  • High attention to detail
  • An appreciation of garden design
  • Passionate about plants and horticulture

Working hours are Monday to Friday 7am-3pm during summer, and 7:30am-3:30pm during winter (not including travel time to site) with overtime sometimes available.
