Head Gardener
Our client is a landscape design, installation and maintenance company based in London. The company ethos is to create a space perfectly fitting to each and every one of their clients needs, whilst being conscious of the natural environment that they play with. As a company they take due care to make sure they are enhancing the landscape they are taking over; not only for their clients, but for all endemic and natural beings within the locality of the space; working on design led projects where attention to detail and creativity is key. As a company they practice and implement organic methods of gardening and are constantly looking at home to be more sustainable in their practice. They are now looking for Head Gardener to join their growing award winning, and BALI accredited team. The gardens they work on are throughout London, and they give their gardeners a generous amount of time so they can set the highest standards for their work.
The Role
Daily duties will include:
- Communicating with the Management; providing on gardens for clients
- Implementing planting schemes
- General watering and management of irrigation systems
- Weeding, plant feeding, staking and cutting back where necessary of herbaceous borders
- Topiary and Hedge cutting by hand and machine
- Identifying pest and disease in plants
- Assist in the improvement and progress of the clients gardens
The successful applicant
Our client is looking for enthusiastic, passionate candidates with a willingness to progress within the industry. The ideal candidate will be a people person, well-mannered and presentable with strong horticultural knowledge and plant base, ideally with a horticultural qualification. The successful candidate will have proven experience, working to a high standard within high end gardens. You will be part of our garden maintenance team as well as helping planting completed gardens by our landscaping team. It is important that you have good team work skills, and a proactive and flexible approach to the Head Gardener. Our client practice and implement organic methods of gardening and are constantly looking at how to be more sustainable in our practice.
Must have proven leadership experience with the ability to work on your own initiative, with good time management skills. Training and career development is encouraged within the company.
- Full clean UK driving license (Essential)
- Experience using a wide range of garden machinery
Additional Information
Working hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am-4:30pm with paid overtime
Company vehicle is provided with on site parking, as is a company uniform
28 days holiday (including Bank Holidays) plus Birthday as a paid holiday.
Additional pay will include a loyalty bonus, performance bonus, tips and a yearly bonus based on company performance.
