The property offers a peaceful countryside setting, with a lovely mix of established gardens and woodland, and the opportunity for a couple to take pride in the care and upkeep of both the home and its surroundings.

The property extends to approximately 9 acres, including established gardens and woodland. The grounds feature attractive lawns, herbaceous borders, mature trees and shrubs, hedging and topiary, alongside a cutting garden, raised vegetable beds, a small greenhouse and coldframes. There is also a woodland pond, a formal circular reflecting pool, a swimming pool and a tennis court, creating a varied and interesting setting for a couple with broad gardening and property maintenance skills.

The role would suit a couple who enjoy working together and taking responsibility for the day-to-day care of a private home and its gardens. The gardening position will focus on maintaining and developing the grounds, including the care of mature shrubs, trees, flowers and productive garden areas. Alongside this, the housekeeping partner will undertake regular duties within the main house, creating a varied, full-time position combining horticulture, housekeeping and general property care.

Working alongside the owner, who enjoys taking a collaborative approach to the garden, the successful couple will have the opportunity to contribute ideas and help plan seasonal planting, including seeds and bulbs. The role will involve maintaining the existing gardens while helping to enhance the grounds throughout the year. It would suit someone who enjoys practical, hands-on gardening and takes pride in the presentation and ongoing development of a country garden.

The housekeeping element will involve approximately 20 hours per week, with the main house generally requiring a weekly clean. Duties will include general housekeeping, cleaning and laundry, alongside occasional cooking of simple dishes prepared in advance and assisting with entertaining when required. Once the housekeeping duties are completed, you will then provide additional support in the gardens. The couple will also be responsible for caring for the owners’ dog when they are abroad.

The owners are in residence for approximately half the year, so the successful couple must be comfortable managing the property and grounds independently when required. Both applicants must be confident drivers, with a proactive, trustworthy and self-motivated approach to their work. The owners are looking for a couple who will take genuine pride in their responsibilities, respect the privacy of the household and be keen to establish a positive, long-term working relationship.

Accommodation is provided in a two-bedroom flat within a separate building opposite the main house. All utilities are paid by the employer, except for oil heating, which is covered by the employees. Pets are welcome.
