Gardener and Part Time Housekeeper- Live In- Hampshire
An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen for a practical and proactive couple to join abeautiful private estate in Hampshire. The 100 acre estate has far reaching views and established parkland.
The garden covers 3-4 acres and is divided by yew hedging and walls into different areas or rooms, with formal lawns, a rose garden, orchard, flower beds and borders, a cutting garden and pool garden, leading out to more informal areas of long grass with mown paths and woodland.
A development plan for the garden is scheduled for the autumn, and working in conjunction with the owners it is a great opportunity for a knowledgable and enthusiastic gardener to play a significant role from the start.
The Role:
General care and upkeep of the borders, lawns, hedges, shrubs and other planted areas, along with routine mowing, pruning, weeding, lifting and dividing, establishing new plants, or flower beds, seasonal work; really anything to do with the care for and improvement to the immediate garden
Estate & Property:
Taking pride in maintaining the grounds and property to a high standard,
carrying out basic repairs where possible, estate security, liaising with contractors, suppliers and visitors to ensure smooth running and presentation. Keeping the owner informed of any maintenance, security, and day to day estate management issues, and helping to ensure matters are dealt with promptly. Another experienced gardener/estate manager is also employed to manage the wider estate, with involvement in the garden as required. Working together to cover the larger tasks, like hedge cutting or tree maintenance.
House – occasionally to help the housekeeper with hard to reach areas, laying fires and replenishing log baskets in the winter. Some swimming pool and tennis court maintenance in the summer.
Dogs: Regular walking and feeding of two well behaved dogs, and by prior arrangement, if the owners are away.
The Ideal Candidate
-Strong practical horticultural knowledge and experience, and a passion for gardening, preferably to include RHS or similar qualifications.
-Experience with garden machinery, tools and equipment
-A practical hands on approach to property maintenance and problem solving
-The ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and use initiative.
-Excellent organisation, communication and administrative skills
-A discreet, trustworthy and dependable approach
-Full UK driving licence essential
Monday to Friday – 40 hours per week, typically 8am to 5pm with one hour off for lunch.Occasional evening or weekend care for dogs and security if the owners are away from home. 28 days annual leave to include bank holidays.
Housekeeper Role
This is a part time role focused on maintaining the interior of the house to a 5* standard.
Duties include regular cleaning, hoovering, laundry and ironing, changing bed linen, and care of delicate fabrics and antiques. It is seven bedroom property, but not all in use each week, the family have adult children who visit from time to time, and they also entertain friends periodically. Household security and handling visiting tradespeople. In support of the gardener occasional dog walking and feeding.Occasionally help with serving and clearing when guests are visiting.

The Ideal Candidate
-Experience working in a private household and being responsible for high standards of upkeep in the house.
-Have a genuine pleasure in turning a room around and making a home feel cared for and welcoming.
-Be physically fit and well organised with a positive can do attitude
-Able to work on own initiative with efficient routines, and an eye for detail.
-A discreet, trustworthy and dependable approach
Monday to Friday – 25 hours per week, typically 8am to 1pm. Occasional shared responsibility for dogs and security as above if owners are away from home. 28 days annual leave to include bank holidays, pro rata.
Live in Accommodation
A separate two bedroom cottage, within walking distance of the house, is provided as part of the role and is directly linked to the employment. Small well behaved dog would be welcome.
Salary: Combined salary £50,000 рa.
