An extraordinary opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estate Manager to oversee the transformation and ongoing management of a stunning 30-acre historic estate in Somerset. Rich in history and character, the estate features a Grade I listed building, Grade II ancillary structures, and extensive Grade II listed park, and gardens. This pivotal role offers the chance for a skilled professional to make a profound impact, leading the overall maintenance, security, and enhancement of the estate while preserving its historic significance.

The estate boasts a variety of remarkable features, including tiered lawns, a walled garden, a flourishing orchard, expansive parklands, and water features. The Estate Manager will be responsible for maintaining and developing these areas, managing the upkeep of all buildings, grounds, infrastructure, and ensuring the smooth running of estate operations.

The Estate Manager will be responsible for the upkeep of gardens, parklands, pathways, and historic buildings, maintaining all areas to the highest standard. Security management will include implementing robust measures such as access control, surveillance, and protocols to protect the estate and its residents. The role also involves planning and executing public open days, garden tours, and private events, managing logistics, health and safety, and visitor experiences. The estate also has an equestrian centre on site, in which the estate manager will help with the facilities and other animals onsite.

 The Estate Manager will have a hands-on approach, they will maintain and improve estate utilities, including water features, drainage systems, pool areas, lighting, and heating, while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations through regular risk assessments and up-to-date documentation. Responsibilities will include fixing and the upkeep of the fencing around the estate and have an excellent understanding of overall maintenance of inside and outside of the property and estate. Budget responsibilities include developing and managing annual budgets for maintenance, staffing, and operations, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising quality. Additional duties include ensuring all estate vehicles, machinery, and tools are serviced and maintained, fostering positive relationships with the local community and stakeholders, and leading emergency responses to events such as security breaches.

Currently undergoing extensive restoration, the estate is on a journey to reclaim its grandeur. Once complete, the grounds will open to the public on select occasions, and the Estate Manager will play a key role in preparing the estate for these events, ensuring safety and delivering exceptional visitor experiences.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing private estates or historic properties, demonstrating strong leadership, organisational, and excellent communication skills. A practical understanding of grounds and building maintenance, security systems, event planning, and health and safety regulations is essential. The ability to manage budgets, plan long-term maintenance schedules, and respond proactively to seasonal demands will be key to success in this role.
