A wonderful opportunity has arisen for an ’Experienced Gardener’ to develop their skills in a varied garden comprising 6 acres. The garden has had a high specification landscaping in several areas; house facade borders, woodland swimming pond and kitchen garden.  The established garden comprises a woodland garden with natural springs, small orchard, plantation, a holiday let with walled garden, second holiday let garden with a border and gravel planting and the owner’s rose cutting business.

The garden annually opens for ‘The National Garden Scheme’ and private tours through the Summer Season and has been included in BBC Gardener’s World in 2023.

Applicants for this position will possess previous professional experience in hands-on gardening.  Suitable candidate’s will preferably hold a suitable horticultural qualification and have extensive knowledge of plants with good all-round practical skills in craft gardening. PA1 and PA6 qualification and a chainsaw certificate would be a bonus. Due to the topography of the garden the position would suit someone physically fit.

General tasks would include maintenance of mowers, leaf blowers, fences, log stacking, jet washing surfaces,  tennis court maintenance and clearing gutters.

The owners believe in a culture of mutual trust, loyalty and engagement.  Feedback regarding the job and garden is always welcome.  Hardwork and development is recognised and rewarded.  Further training is encouraged on day courses and from advisors and specialists, visiting the garden.  Contractors are regularly used to support the Full Time Gardener.
