An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced, creative and committed gardener to maintain and further enhance an English country garden situated near Henley-on-Thames.
The 6-acre garden comprises a walled garden with swimming pool and tennis court, formal lawns, fruit trees, vegetable patch, herbaceous borders and woodland. The garden contains extensive hedges of yew and box. The garden is mature and has great scope for improvement.
The Sole Gardener will have a hands-on role in the daily care and continuous development of the garden. He / She will be someone who takes pride in their work and will maintain the garden to a high horticultural standard. The owners are enthusiastic about developing the garden and the successful candidate will work closely with them on the project. The owners are based between their home in London and Henley-on-Thames therefore the Sole Gardener will need to be self-motivated, organised, able to plan and prioritise workload and work to a high standard. He / She will be key in the implementation of these development projects as well as maintaining the garden.
Applicants will need to have a minimum level 2 horticultural qualification for the role, spray certificates (PA1 and PA6) and chainsaw certificate would also be an advantage. Excellent plant knowledge coupled together with strong technical skills would be ideal. Basic maintenance of garden machinery is required, maintaining log supplies, occasional DIY/maintenance skills and dog walks.
Full driving licence is essential. Non-smoker preferred.
£25k – £30k depending on experience – full time.
