Gardener – Vacancy

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a gardener or a trainee gardener looking to gain experience working with a small team on a beautiful private property, on a full- basis near Swindon, Wiltshire.

This exciting role would suit reliable, hard-working candidates with good communication who have basic gardening experience.

The gardens and small estate offer a rich and varied landscape, including formal borders, meadows, pond, woodland, kitchen gardens, animals and more.

The role and responsibilities of the successful applicant will include tasks such as pruning, weeding, planting, training, growing, and propagation as well as helping with harvesting, cutting flowers and more. The applicant must also be willing to do general maintenance such as mowing, pest and disease control, hedge cutting, ensuring the grounds and gardens are consistently well presented and on occasion feeding animals, helping with firewood stacking and more. The role requires good communication and an energetic and enthusiastic approach to all jobs, big or small, as well as a good collaborative attitude. The gardens are open on occasion so an eye for neatness and detail are essential.

The ideal candidate will have a base knowledge of gardening and an ability to use mowers, strimmers and other machinery, with the willingness to expand on their skillset and horticultural knowledge. Applicants must be passionate about gardening and enjoy working to a high standard. Physical fitness and energy are essential as this is a hands-on role.

Full time role, 40 hours a week
Shared weekend duties for which time in lieu will be granted
Handy with tools and machinery
A methodical, neat approach to work
Occasional feeding/checking of animals
Able to work independently and with a team
Good communication skills
An eye for detail
A full UK Driving Licence

Salary:   Dependent on Experience
