Assistant Gardener / Horticulturist.
The position of Assistant Gardener has now become available working alongside the Head Gardener and contractors at a large private Garden near Mickleham in Surrey.
We are looking to recruit a keen experienced gardener with a good level of physical fitness to maintain and develop this private estate garden. The garden has a long history and many features of interest. Extensive lawns, Arboretum, woodland, meadows, herbaceous borders and a productive small walled kitchen garden growing fruit and vegetables for the family. A glasshouse is used for growing all plant material in house and a large Rock garden is, at the moment, being restored and planted.
Working alongside the Head Gardener the successful candidate will be involved with all gardening tasks.
Experience in the operation of a wide range of machinery is essential including the use of ride on mowers, tractors, strimmers, brush cutters and pedestrian equipment.
Working as part of a team and on your own when required is essential including covering the Head Gardeners role during holidays.
A minimum experience of 2-3 years in horticulture is required along with a suitable qualification at RHS level 2 or equivalent.
PA1 / 6 spray certificates and certification in chainsaw operation would be desirable. Full training will be given to the right candidate including basic First Aid, Fire and Security training
The position is full time 0800-16.30pm Monday – Friday with some weekend watering required on a rota basis during the summer.
Applicants should have a Full UK driving license and their own transport as the garden is situated in a rural location.
