Head Gardener required for a private estate in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire

The owners of a private estate in Knaresborough require a Head Gardener to oversee and maintain their formal gardens and extensive grounds. The well-established gardens include formal lawns and beds, trees and shrubs, kitchen garden, orchard, soft fruit cage, wildflower meadows, pond and water features.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be highly organised and motivated with emphasis on the highest standards of horticultural care and presentation. An ability to work independently with strong leadership skills and effective management to guide a small team and external contractors is essential.
The responsibilities include the full scope of garden and grounds management and maintenance with a practical hands on approach. This includes seasonal planting including vegetable care, maintaining tools, equipment and irrigation systems, budgeting for plants, equipment and supplies, pest control and compliance with health and safety.
Formal training and qualifications required with a focus on professionalism and discretion.
Salary: £35k dependent upon experience
Hours: Full time 40 Hours per week
Annual Leave: 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays
