Greenkeeper
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and hands-on Greenkeeper to join a beautiful private estate in Oxfordshire. This Greenkeeper job offers the chance to work within a high-quality, professionally managed environment, maintaining approximately two hectares of lawns to an exceptional standard of presentation and year-round health.
This position is well suited to a Greenkeeper or lawn care specialist with strong practical experience in turf management and a solid understanding of turf science. Working within a small, supportive estate team, you will take ownership of designated lawn areas, ensure consistently high standards, maintaining accurate records of treatment programmes, products used, and ongoing maintenance activities.
The role involves developing and delivering seasonal lawn care and turf management programmes, including fertiliser application, weed, moss and pest control, soil conditioning, and overseeding and renovation. You will carry out and coordinate key sports turf and grounds maintenance practices such as scarification, aeration, top dressing, rolling, irrigation system management, mowing and edging. A key part of the role will be monitoring turf health and proactively identifying and resolving issues relating to drainage, compaction, turf disease, nutrient deficiencies, pests and weed presence.
In addition to specialist turf responsibilities, you will support the wider estate grounds maintenance team with general duties including hedge cutting, leaf clearance, planting and border maintenance, as well as the upkeep of pathways and hard landscaped areas. There will also be involvement in seasonal estate tasks and supporting the team during busy periods and estate events.
The successful candidate will have proven experience in Greenkeeping, groundskeeping or sports turf maintenance, ideally within a private estate, golf course or high-end grounds environment. A strong understanding of lawn care, turf management principles and treatment planning is essential, along with knowledge of fertilisers, turf care products and safe application techniques. Experience with turf renovation practices such as scarification, aeration and overseeding is required, as well as competence in operating and maintaining ride-on mowers and professional turf machinery.
A formal horticultural or turf management qualification would be advantageous. PA1 and PA6 spraying certificates are required for this Greenkeeper role, along with experience using irrigation systems. Additional skills such as chainsaw certification or wider estate machinery experience would be beneficial.
This is a full-time, permanent Greenkeeper position based in Oxfordshire, working Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. The ideal candidate will be reliable, self-motivated and practical, comfortable working outdoors in all seasons, and capable of working both independently and as part of a professional estate team.
