An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Sole Gardener to manage an attractive private estate located two miles from the beaches and marshlands of the north Norfolk coast. The appointed gardener will be responsible for the gardens, fields and woodland on this 25-acre estate.

The gardens, which are surrounded by mixed woodlands and fields, predominantly consist of herbaceous borders, formal lawns, a wildflower meadow and a kitchen garden with raised beds and a greenhouse. As such, the gardener will be responsible for the upkeep of the aforementioned garden features in addition to the driveways and paved areas. Tasks include seasonal pruning, planting, weeding, hedge trimming, maintenance of equipment and additional handyman/groundsperson responsibilities when required. The successful candidate will receive the assistance of external contractors during the busy summer period and therefore, their supervision and direction will fall under the remit of the Sole Gardener.

Applicants will need to have a relevant horticultural qualification and proven gardening experience in a similar role. The successful candidate will possess a comprehensive knowledge of plants and capability to manage a garden of this size. Previous experience and competency with a wide range of gardening machinery is a requirement for this position, with chainsaw certification being advantageous. Applicants must also be well organised, capable of working using their own initiative and fit and healthy – you should have a friendly disposition and be happy to fit in with the family but mainly be independent.

The majority of work for this role will be gardening however, the successful candidate will require a flexible approach to their work as there is a requirement to undertake other non-gardening tasks which include general maintenance tasks for small repairs, oversight of the house and two friendly dogs and occasionally to drive for the owners.

This full-time position and comes with a recently refurbished 2-bedroom house which is located on-site, with rent and rates being covered by the client. A full UK driving license is essential for this role.
