An exciting opportunity has become available for a skilled gardener to join a prestigious private estate in Ascot, Berkshire. Set within a larger historic estate, the gardens span approximately 25 acres and surround an impressive Grade II listed house with a rich horticultural history. This is a chance to work as part of a friendly and experienced team of three full-time gardeners, caring for a diverse mix of formal, productive, and naturalistic garden areas in a truly special setting.

The gardens are truly enchanting, offering a rich blend of beauty, structure, and seasonal interest. Surrounding the main house are elegant formal terraced lawns, clipped topiary, and vibrant ornamental borders that provide year-round colour and form. A charming walled garden features a harmonious mix of decorative planting and productive beds, while the kitchen garden boasts raised beds overflowing with vegetables, herbs, soft fruit, and fruit trees. Beyond this, a small orchard and a flourishing wildflower meadow encourage biodiversity and attract pollinators throughout the seasons. Pathways that lead into peaceful woodland gardens, where naturalistic plantings and perennials thrive beneath a canopy of mature trees. Originally shaped by the vision of renowned designers these gardens hold a unique historical and horticultural significance.

The successful candidate will be a dedicated and skilled gardener with a genuine passion for maintaining high-quality gardens throughout the seasons. You will be comfortable working independently and as part of a supportive team, The role will involve a full range of horticultural tasks including lawn care, pruning, weeding, hedge cutting, planting, propagation, Soft landscaping and supporting the productivity of the kitchen garden. Seasonal tasks will include wildflower management and orchard care.

Experience with garden machinery is highly desirable, and holding PA1 and PA6 spraying certificates would be an advantage. The ideal candidate will bring a positive, can-do attitude, strong time management skills, and a proactive approach to their work. Previous experience in a similar private estate or high-end horticultural setting is preferred, ideally with a minimum of three years’ experience. Candidates with a background in soft landscaping are also encouraged to apply.

This is a full-time, permanent position with working hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will be required to undergo DBS check prior to working on the estate.

SALARY:        Up to £42,000 DOE
