A self-motivated and driven Sole Gardener is sought after on a two day and permanent basis for a large private garden near Tisbury, Wiltshire.
This lovely family home overlooks agricultural land to the south and the extensive gardens are made up of formal and naturally planted areas.
The formal areas consist of parterres of box, holly and yew hedging, wisteria and jasmine pergola, courtyard of seasonally planted troughs, pleached tunnel, kitchen garden, large fruit cage, greenhouse, climbing and shrub roses, herbaceous borders and large areas of lawn encircling the property.
The naturally planted areas include a small orchard, perennial meadow planted with mature tress and shrubs.
The friendly owners are garden enthusiasts. They aspire for a high finish and would like a horticulturist with a positive attitude and a passion for plants to come onboard to drive their garden forward.
The Sole Gardener will be required to manage most aspects of the garden therefore need competency maintaining roses, propagate plants from seed and cuttings and manage a greenhouse and generally have good all-round plant knowledge and excellent craft skills.
Applicants should ideally have a minimum level 2 horticultural qualification, specialist pruning, hedge cutting and topiary skills. Previous experience working in a similar environment would be advantageous.
A part time grounds person currently works onsite half a day to strim weekly and tend the fruit and vegetable patches. The sole gardener will be responsible for the finer horticultural aspects of the garden and will work alongside the grounds person. The owners are happy to mow the gardens.
Working hours are anticipated as typically 8.30am to 5.30pm two days a week, but there is room for flexibility.
Due to the rural locality, a full UK driving licence and own vehicle is essential.
The role would suit an experienced self-employed gardener with their own tools and comprehensive insurance. DBS checks may be required.
Salary: £20 per hour
