A vacancy has arisen for a suitable experienced gardener to take up the position of Sole Gardener managing a 3acre private garden in Wiltshire. The formal areas consist of a walled vegetable garden with box and yew hedging, large fruit cage, greenhouses, climbing and shrub roses, herbaceous borders, wildlife pond and rill and large are of lawn.
Applicants wishing to apply for the vacancy should ideally have a recognised horticultural qualification and experience running a large private garden. You will be required to manage all aspects of the garden therefore need competency in growing and maintaining fruit and vegetables for the household, able to maintain roses, propagate plants from seed and cuttings and manage a greenhouse and generally have good all-round plant knowledge and excellent craft skills.
The owners are looking for someone who is a keen plants person, passionate about their work and has the ability to assist with bringing the garden on. A full clean driving licence and ability to drive a quad bike and trailer when necessary whilst not essential would be desirable along with CS30/31 chainsaw certificates.
Working hours are anticipated as typically 8.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday with 4 wees holiday per year.
A 2 ½ bedroom cottage with a large private garden at the back is available for the successful applicant. Partners, children and pets are welcome. Council tax is paid by the employers, water is supplied from a borehole onsite, and electricity is paid by the tenant.
SALARY: Circa £28,000 depending on experience
