Skilled Gardener required

Role description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a skilled gardener to join our new and welcoming team. The estate comprises of formal herbaceous borders, shrub beds, water features, extensive lawns, edibles garden, a glasshouse and two large polytunnels. Recently taken on as a family weekend home; the ethos centres around wildlife and ecologically friendly practices. The successful candidate will work under direction of the head gardener, but may have the opportunity to ‘take ownership’ of agreed areas. Candidates must possess a minimum RHS Level 2 qualification, or equivalent, and have worked in a similar role for a minimum of two years. This role will be ideal for someone who is keen to further their horticultural development.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake tasks including but not limited to propagation, weeding, irrigation, pruning, hedge cutting, strimming, mowing, seasonal lawn care, training, planting, staking, composting, pest and disease management
• Maintain and develop the gardens to an exceptionally high standard
• Use of a wide range of tools and machinery
• Occasional work around the wider estate i.e. fencing
• Work in a manner that ensures the safety of self and others at all times
• Liaise with the owners, head gardener and wider estate staff to ensure the effective day-to-day running of the estate

Working hours – Monday – Friday – 40 working hours per week, 20 days holiday per annum

Salary Up to £30,000 DOE
