Skilled Gardener
A permanent full-time Skilled Gardener is sought after to maintain and manage the garden on a beautiful family-owned property near Stockport, Cheshire.
The impressive 33-acre estate consists of pastures, paddocks, 5-acre formal garden filled with spring flowers; azaleas and rhododendrons, a vegetable garden, formal lawns surrounded by mixed beds and borders, rose beds, mature shrubs, apple trees, large green house with a grape vine, a 3-acre woodland area with a woodland walk, a pond, and a variety of hedges – yew, beech and hornbeam.
The owners are garden enthusiasts and are looking for a horticulturalist with an eye for detail, genuine enthusiasm and ideas for further development and improvements in order to provide additional colour and interest to the garden. Also, to bring the garden up to a high horticultural standard. The role will be a sole position with additional support provided during the busier periods.
Applicants will have a relevant horticultural qualification, ideally level 2 or above and proven experience as a Sole or Skilled Gardener managing a large private garden from a hands-on perspective. Applicants must have good all-round gardening skills, be physically fit and happy to work autonomously. Chainsaw certificates and spray certificates (PA1/PA6) would be an advantage; however, training can be provided as long as there is the willingness to acquire the tickets. The garden is equipped with a range of equipment hence experience with using garden machinery and basic maintenance is required as well as a full UK driving licence.

SALARY: £25,000 – £30,000 depending on experience
