Senior Gardener
Applications are invited for the position of a Senior Gardener for the secluded grounds and gardens of an exclusive property, situated on a beautifully presented landscape in a unique location in Dorset.
The Estate is listed as a UNESCO world Heritage site and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The gardens and grounds comprise of a small woodland, that have trees that are unique to the estate, there are a number of gardens development into the waterfall and cliffs gardens that have wildflower planting to support the butterflies. Creating areas of conservation, sustainability and biodiversity play an important part within the estate. There are formal lawns, together with both an Italian garden and kitchen garden that produces cut flowers and vegetables for the events that are held at the estate.
This Senior Gardener role offers a fantastic opportunity to be creative within the grounds and further developed the gardens such as the rooftop gardens which are newly planted requiring further development.
We are looking for a Senior Gardener to manage the outside space ranging from high end planting through to simple grounds work. Applicants should be horticulturally qualified or have work several years’ experience in a similar role on a prestigious estate. The owners are constantly looking to make improvements to the gardens. The owners are committed to supporting industry training so that staff can gain qualifications that support the horticultural tasks required in the gardens. There is an existing team that is focussed on enjoying work and presenting spectacular gardens for those that visit. The candidate should be happy to work unsupervised and willing to be part of the gardening team.
The successful candidate will need to be confident, presentable, and professional. They will be working whilst there are guests on the Estate who like to have a conversation about the beautiful gardens. The owners will consider candidates that require temporary ‘live in’ as an option until the candidate could find accommodation locally.
SALARY: up to £35,000 – Temporary accommodation available
