We are a well-established, prize-winning, garden maintenance company established over 20 years ago. We maintain and design contemporary gardens, communal residential gardens, roof and water gardens as well as traditional London squares, with topiary hedges and herbaceous borders, all located within a small area of central London.
This is an exciting hands-on role running the maintenance of our gardens and sharing management tasks with our existing Manager.
As our Head Gardener, you will have overall responsibility for managing our small team, ensuring they work in a supported and safe environment, managing and implementing garden maintenance tasks ensuring that all gardens are maintained to a high standard, and contributing towards the smooth running of the organisation.
Your range of tasks will include organising weekly & seasonal rotas, general garden mainteance, managing pests and diseases, record keeping, purchasing and ensuring all areas are maintained to a very high standard.
You will carry out regular checks and assessments for tool & machinery maintenance, health & safety and security and liaise with the Manager & Director, to ensure jobs are performed as and when they are required.
You will be expected to understand all aspects of gardening services, training and management and guide the gardening team to enable them to confidently deal with all aspects of their roles.
Creativity in soft planting and design is encouraged and a friendly & flexible approach to team management is essential.
Essential
- Excellent plant knowledge
- Experience in using garden machinery
- Experience with irrigation systems (pref.)
- PA1 & PA6 Spraying certificate (pref.)
- Clean Driving Licence (pref.)
Min 2 yrs garden supervisory or management experience
Excellent interpersonal & organisational skills
Leadership and ability to drive, train & develop a team
Flexible & happy to work in a small team
